Summer in Meribel - 10% off if you've stayed with us before.

Meribel in SummerSummer in the mountains is stunning. Green valleys, snow-capped peaks, wild flowers, mountain lakes and streams. During June, July and August temperatures in the Alps rarely fall below 30oC making Meribel a fantastic place to visit. If you’re into hiking, mountain biking, nature trails, or some extreme sports, then think about a summer holiday in the Alps.

Mountain bikingIf you crave backcountry mountain biking adventure, the resort’s well-groomed trails and steep, sustained ascents make for a challenging ride. But if you’re looking for a more leisurely cycling and hiking experience there are plenty of trouble-free, interconnecting marked trails to explore, scattered with mountain restaurants and bars.

Also, the mountains are dotted with comfortable refuges (rustic huts that provide meals and accommodation – prices start at 5 Euros per person per night, plus meals) about a day's walk apart; making it possible to walk hundreds of miles without encountering a road or mass human habitation.

And there are many other outdoor activities besides hiking and cycling. White water rafting, rock climbing, canyoning (which involves traversing cliff faces, by a mixture of climbing down and across the mountain face and wading in ice-cold rock pools), paragliding, archery, swimming, horse riding and tennis are all available across the Trois Vallées.

GolfThere’s also the beautiful Méribel golf course, high up on the altiport plateau with breathtaking views from the 1st tee to the 18th greeen. Or why not leave the exercise to the others and pamper yourself instead. Bespoke spa treatments are widely available – including hay-baths, heat treatments (saunas, steam rooms and spa pools), body peels and mud and thermal water treatments, plus a wide range of face, body and massage treatments. There are also a wide range of shops, bars, night clubs and a number of Michelin star-rated restaurants scattered throughout the valleys.

This year we are introducing the summer catered chalet holiday.  Imagine being out hill-walking all day, or hitting the trails on your mountain bike, then coming home and there's tea and cakes waiting for you, and in the evening a delicious 4 course dinner is served, and cleared away for you.  Plus we'll make you a hearty breakfast, and send you off with a packed lunch up the mountains.  Now that's a real holiday.  We are also offering both Les Grands Sorbiers and Chalet Snowbel on a self-catered basis during the summer months, and when you consider the number of low-budget airlines flying into Geneva and Lyon airports, this makes for a very affordable and highly enjoyable summer holiday that all ages can enjoy. Or why not enjoy a leisurely drive across France staying in some fantastic guest houses and inns off the beaten track, before ending up in Meribel for the true alpine experience.

Please call or email me for any advice on summer in Meribel, and for our latest summer prices - both catered and self-catered.  And don't forget, if you've stayed with us before - winter or summer - you get a 10% discount off the cost of your stay with us.
